A deep-rooted British tradition in VDS is the sorting of students in HOUSES to foster team-spirit in academic contests and sport competitions.<\/p>\n

VDS House system as we know it today, was established in 1940. The Houses are named after regional British landmarks: Kent, York, Gloucester and Windsor and four colours represent them: red, blue, green and yellow respectively.<\/p>\n

Once a new student has complied with the admission process, he or she is assigned to a specific House and this membership is going to remain a legacy to his or her own children and relatives.<\/p>\n

Each House is headed by a HOUSE CAPTAIN, two PREFECTS from secondary school and two from primary school. These leaders are appointed according to the results of an annual election day in which faculty members and students participate. On that very occasion two students are elected SCHOOL CAPTAIN and SPORTS CAPTAIN, the most important leading roles as far as a student representation is concerned.<\/p>\n

The House system seems to intertwine families and generations: parents, children and grand-children come close together in a bond of loyalty and trust to celebrate their strong sense of belonging to their \u201cColour\u201d and to Villa Devoto School.<\/p>\n
